When I give an opinion on a scooter or chair, it's not the opinion of a salesman, it's the opinion of someone who uses and understands what it's like to use mobility scooters and powerchairs. Of all the chairs on the market the A08L is the one I like best, it's as simple as that. Let's start with build quality. Freedomchairs are beautifully made things and just don't ever give us any problems. Great material quality, well designed and well put together.

The A08L is SO easy to use and SO versatile. You can fold it up by releasing just one catch behind the seat. It takes under 5 seconds to fold. It weighs just 28kgs which for a chair as solidly built as the A08L, that can take users up to 160kgs or 25 stone, is pretty impressive.

So what's it like to use? And that's coming from someone who users a powerchair themselves and has used virtually every chair on the market. The A08L is GREAT to use. It's'all day comfortable'.

The simple looking but super comfy seat is a great place to spend hours. Driving the Freedomchair is also a pleasure. Some cheaper chairs might look ok but are not very nice things to operate.

The controllers are low quality and even for someone like me who uses them every day, controlling them is hard work. The controller on the Freedomchair is a high quality unit and is really intuitive to use.

It makes the chair seem like an extension of you and in no time at all, even if you're a powerchair'newbie' you'll be going through the narrowest of gaps, doing spin turns and not even thinking about how you're controlling the chair. This chair has been fitted with the optional factory fitted'carer controller' option. This is a super neat little mini joy stick that is mounted on the rear'push handle'.

It's a really simple little device with just two controls; an on/off button and a small joystick. When you push the button it transfers the control of the powerchair to a friend/ relative or carer who then has full control from behind the chair.

There are other chair on the market with this facility but the carer controller on the Freedomchair is by far the best and easiest to use that I have ever tried and by quite a margin too. Many of the carer controllers are really difficult to control and you end up going in an S shape when trying to go in a straight line.

The compact size of the controller on the A08L and the well executed programming makes it great to use. This is a really useful extra for anyone who can't control a chair themselves and also for people who perhaps like the independence of user control but become tired easily and may need someone to'take over' at some point. Let's talk about looks. I know it shouldn't matter, but it does.

The A08L is a very good and thoroughly modern looking powerchair. A million miles away from the powered wheelchair look of older chairs and something that will have people saying'can I have a go! It looks like and is a quality item. I love Freedomchairs and I'm always happy when we get one in. They are the best range of folding Powerchairs that I've used and the A08L along with its sister chair the DE-08L is right at the top of the Freedomchair range.
